Deptford Methodist Church has a large premises and many rooms are let out to other small charities and organisations. Also on the premises are:

The DPC

The DPC is a separate charity that grew out of the work that the church has always undertaken in Deptford with the elderly and disabled. It is a day centre which aims to reduce isolation and loneliness amongst these groups by providing a place of welcome and sense of community. Members join through referral by social services or a family member, and are transported to and from the centre, receive a three course meal along with tea, coffee and biscuits, and take part in various activities and entertainments.

Part of the DPC is the Charity Shop – “The Well”, which sells good quality used clothes, bric-a-brac, games, books, jewellery, DVD’s and small items of furniture. The shop is open Monday – Friday, 9.30am – 3.30pm, and are always grateful for donations.

 

Chinese and Vietnamese Fellowship

The East London Alliance Church is run by Pastor Tai Ming Pang and grew up out of a fellowship for local Vietnamese speakers that was started by one of our church members. In addition to worship on Sunday afternoons, the also hold bible studies during the week. Pastor Pang is also an Associate Chaplain at the University of Greenwich.

 

Second Wave

Second Wave rent space in the building to run their youth arts and drama program.  Workshops include drama, music, lyrics, spoken word, dance and singing, and young people can progress from simply attending the sessions to volunteering and leading through their leadership training programs.

Family Services are a charity based in Deptford, South East London SE8 providing low-cost therapy to individuals and families, walk-in counselling without appointment to those in crisis, as well as support groups, parenting workshops, psycho-educational programmes and activities to improve mental health wellbeing.
